The Parka-less Hood

When I was a kid I had this wonderful warm parka with a fur lined hood. The hood was always my favorite part because it somehow made me feel mysterious and badass as well as keeping me warm.  These days I am sporting an equally warm and significantly more stylish winter coat, but missing that hood has inspired me to create the Parka-less hood. And the beauty of this hood is that it can be worn with any coat!

This pattern is very simple and can be easily altered to be longer or shorter, use different stitches or just add on to make your own. I had made one in a cream color and added a dozen rows of single crochets (following the FL/BL scheme and skipping the fur row). I then folded the extra rows back (RS to RS) tacked it down every 6 or 8 stitches and added a couple of large wooden buttons to one side. Fortunately for me that one sold quickly, though not so fortunate for this blog posting because I didn't get a chance to take a picture!
 So feel free to play around with the pattern and make it your own and then send me a pic! I love to see FO's that come from my patterns and post them here and/or my ravelry listing.

As always, don't duplicate my pattern in any way. If this inspires you to write your own, DIFFERENT,  pattern please have some respect and at least link to this page please. Feel free to sell whatever FOs you make from this pattern because I am a huge supporter of home made goods... plus I couldn't stop you even if I wanted to ;)

Materials;
10.0mm Hook
5.00mm (H) Hook *Used for optional fun fur row
Super Bulky Yarn**, Approximately 250 yards/230 metres.  Alternatively, two strands of worsted weight held together would work - Yardage unknown.
Scissors
Large Yarn Needle
fun fur - pattern uses Lion Brand

**I have mainly used Red Heart Comfort Chunky or Bernat Chunky. The Red Heart brand comes in balls of 212m/233yards and I have enough yarn to do the pattern but not enough to sew up the back or make the pom poms.
